A Tall Order
A downloadable game for Windows
Stack your cake as high as you can, but remember, every cake dropped needs to be frosted to stay stable! Will you go slow and cautiously, frosting each piece and only adding new slices when you must? Or will you risk adding more slices than you can frost?
Made for Brackeys Game Jam 2025.2
How to play
Use the oven mitts to click on and drop cakes from the conveyor belt onto your stack below. Be careful--Some kinds of cake are harder to land than others!
Once a cake has landed, it will lose stability over time. Swap to the Frosting tool with the icon on the right side of the screen, then click and hold to restore frosting to the slice(s) you are hovering over.
If a slice loses stability it will be destroyed, and slices above it will fall. Slices falling have the same margin for error as if you ha dropped them from the belt, so watch out for chain reactions of falling cakes.
Once a cake slice hits the dotted line at the bottom of the screen its frosting will set, and it will no longer lose stability. -- Be careful! If a slice sets and has no slice above it, it's game over!
On the left of the screen is your score, as well as your "lives" if a slice is destroyed you lose a life. Every 10 seconds you get one back, so just make sure not to lose too many slices all at once!
Escape key pauses the game, or returns you to the main menu after a win or loss.
The Cakes!
The Basic Cake: Simple as can be, land it for points!
Donut Cake: Another kind of Basic Cake. Harder to land, but gives way more score!
Sticky Cake: Very forgiving to land, when this cake lands it Fortifies itself and the cake slice blow it! (Fortified slices never lose stability)
The Wedding Cake: Hard to land, and quite rare, but if you land a wedding cake on top of another wedding cake your whole cake gets Fortified. (Fortified slices never lose stability)
The Oreo Cake: Once landed, if any non-basic cake lands on an Oreo cake, all the slices below the Oreo cake get set back to full stability as filling cascades down your whole cake.
Monster Cake: The first time Monster Cake lands on a slice it eats the slice below it, giving you two "buffer lives" that don't come back (up to a max of 4 buffers).
